An Evening with Charlie Haylock
An Evening With Charlie Haylock... Is Charlie's one-man show; a collection of unique
tales, monologues and mardles. Charlie invites the audience to share his world and his history,
introducing us to the Suffolk dialect and people, - capturing the warmth and humour found
among those who live in the region. Charlie invites us into his rural Suffolk community,
allowing us to be part of this world - a world which most of us believe has ceased to exist.
The Show is a mixture of side-splitting humour, fascinating historical fact, and nostalgia. As Lisa Harris from the Museum of East Anglian Life says, "The tales and yarns about good times and hardships help people relate to and understand them, but the dialect in which these tales are told is what makes them truly unique." Charlie's show works in any environment, he's played venues varying from village halls, to The Sir John Mills Theatre, and audiences varying from high school students, to black tie dinners.
But don't just take our word for it, listen to those who have already experienced the show for themselves...
- 'Smiffy's ma and pa went. They reckon its one of the best shows they EVER seen!'
- 'I should sue you, cos my sides hurt so much!'
- 'Thank yer booy, that was real Suffolk hoomer.'
